CCNS is an independent research center (NGO) based in St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. The overall mission of CCNS is twofold:
  • to help people in the CIS countries use ICTs to improve their lives, and
  • to develop civil society through research,networks, information and scientific/professional events.

    CCNS is also involved in studying the effects of policy decisions and international development activities in the field of ICTs use.

    Inaugural Issue
    The Journal of Community Informatics (JoCI) is pleased to announce the online availability of its Inaugural Issue JoCI is a peer-reviewed Open Archive on-line quarterly journal for and by the Community Informatics research community and produced under the auspices of the Community Informatics Research Network (CIRN)
    This Inaugural Issue of JoCI is an invitational response by members of the Editorial Group to give a context to our enterprise through position papers, scholarly papers and other materials.



    The Second part of the Textbook "Community Networking and Community Informatics: Prospects. Approaches. Instruments" : Theory and Practice of Community Informatics in the CIS was published in March 2006. This edition is in large part present a wide range of theoretical and practical experience, which has been accumulated in CIS countries in the area of Community Informatics.
