One of the most important outcomes of BIC 2003 was the establishment of the Community Informatics Research Network in the Commonwealth of the Independent States (CIRN-CIS), a regional charter of the global CIRN.
Currently this research network includes more than 25 specialists from the range of CIS Countries who are communicating through a specialised listserv

The activity of this network included the preparation of the second volume of the Community Networking/Community Informatics: Prospects, Approaches, and Instruments textbook. This volume will be devoted to innovative inter-disciplinary approaches supporting community-based IT projects and activities in the CIS (see Call for Papers ).
